Men's Cosmetics

Men’s Makeup: To wear or not to wear is not the question. Are you a strapping young lad who would like to show a little extra something of his inner beauty or the aging gentleman that refuses to be simply old? Well if you are, this is for you. This is makeup for men; these are not basic men’s grooming products—although they should be. Today I’ve decided to find some of the leaders of men's makeup and in cases where a product (that is absolutely necessary) doesn’t exist, we will explore possible substitutes from our girlfriends’ makeup bags. Feedback and testimonials about the products featured here are welcome.

The following are some of the brands that are catering to men's makeup needs:

Studio5ive

My favorite product is the Beard and Brow eye shader. I use this to make my eyebrows more present. It’s sort of like a dark taupe eye shadow and the brush makes it very easy to apply. Just sweep over the eyebrows and they look great! No one can tell you are wearing this stuff and it makes a HUGE difference. I love this stuff! http://www.studio5ive.com/HTML/mens-beard-shader.htm The collection seems the most complete and the prices are reasonable. They carry cleansers and a whole skin regimen but also carry every bit of makeup you may need (except for a man lipstick). You also get to see some good looking men for before and afters. An instructional DVD is available.

Male Species claims to provide cosmetics that “enhance a man’s skin, from foundations that even the skin tone, to concealers that hide flaws and imperfections like dark circles under the eyes, pigment spots, blemishes and shaving nicks, to anti-shine and powders to correct a shiny face. The end result is a non-detectable natural finish and healthier looking skin. The entire face is enhanced, skin looks better and minor flaws disappear, without a colorful or powdery look. Products maintain their integrity under water and through heat, humidity and activity – they will not melt or sweat off.” I haven’t tried any of their products but their powder and blush are interesting.

The Men Pen is a men's cosmetic concealer stick. Plain and simple. They do, however, offer 17 shades—so, you are bound to find a shade that best suits you. The price is under $15.

4VOO “(pronounced 'forvous") is an innovative Canadian skin care and cosmetic’s company that offers the luxurious experience of enhancing the appearance, confidence, and allure of men.” Basic products in really nice minimalist brushed white metal and chrome. (No man lipstick here either.)

The KENMEN Cosmetics line is a unique approach to men's grooming. Efficient. Precise. Transparent. http://www.kenmen.net/en/index.html
I found KENMEN to be the only man’s line to carry a lipstick for men, but it’s still hidden…I found it under their “DARE TO BE”:

M.a.N. Cosmetics

Very basic products and no website of their own. Prices are average.

Menaji

Basic men’s makeup products. Prices are average.

I also found a product that seemed to be more for actual “coverage”—Dermablend. From their site, it appears to be a product to correct larger imperfections.
